Built on passion, driven by precision - that's how we roll at Pyrelith Bastion
Look, I'm not gonna feed you some glossy corporate origin story. Started wrenching on cars in my dad's garage when I was like 14, got grease under my nails that never really came out. First car I ever rebuilt was an '89 BMW 325i that everyone said was toast - proved 'em wrong and been hooked ever since.
Spent years working at different shops around Vancouver, learned what worked and what was just BS. Too many places cutting corners or treating customers like walking wallets. Figured I could do better, so I did.
Pyrelith Bastion isn't just some fancy name we came up with - it's about being solid, dependable, the kind of place that stands strong when your car needs real help. Whether you're bringing in a classic that needs some love or a daily driver that's seen better days, we treat it like it's our own.
We're not the cheapest shop in town, won't pretend to be. But we're honest, we know our stuff, and we actually give a damn about getting it right. That's worth something these days.
"Every car's got a story. Our job is making sure that story doesn't end prematurely."
- Marcus, Founder & Lead Technician
Opened up shop with just two bays and a dream. First customer brought in a Volvo wagon that three other shops couldn't figure out. Spent two days on it, found a weird vacuum leak nobody else caught. Word started spreading after that.
Had to expand to four bays 'cause we were turning people away. Brought on Jake, who's probably forgotten more about transmissions than most guys ever learn. Still working 70-hour weeks but hey, that's what it takes.
Invested heavily in proper diagnostic equipment and ECU tuning gear. Modern cars are basically computers on wheels - can't fix 'em right without the right tools. Started offering custom performance tuning that year too.
Completed our first full classic restoration - a '72 Porsche 911 that looked like it'd been parked under a tree for a decade. Owner cried when we handed back the keys. That's when we knew we needed to do more of this work.
Added Sarah and Tom to the crew. Finally got the team balanced right - everyone's got their specialty, nobody's stepping on toes. Shop's running smoother than a fresh engine break-in.
Still in the same industrial unit, still getting our hands dirty every day. Got a reputation now for being the guys who can handle the tricky stuff. Customers drive from all over BC to see us, which honestly still blows my mind.
We do it right or we don't do it. Simple as that. Sometimes that means telling you it'll take an extra day, or that you need a better part than the cheap option. But your car's gonna thank us later.
We'll tell you what's actually wrong, not what'll make us the most money. If your car just needs a minor fix, we'll say so. If it's gonna be expensive, we'll explain why before touching anything.
Our guys aren't just parts-swappers reading off a computer screen. They actually understand how these machines work, can diagnose by sound and feel, know the quirks of different makes and models.
We're not looking for quick jobs - we want customers who come back for years. That means building trust, standing behind our work, and making sure you're actually happy with what we did.

Been under hoods for 18+ years. If it's got an engine, I've probably worked on it.
If it shifts gears, Jake's your guy. Rebuilt more transmissions than he can count.
Modern cars are computers - Sarah speaks their language fluently.
Makes cars handle like they should. Obsessed with getting the setup perfect.
